A Fresh Start
After nearly two decades, the Onimusha series is finally making a comeback with Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The first details about the game were shared in a Famitsu interview with director Satoru Nihei and producer Akihito Kadowaki.
The game will feature a linear progression system, offering an estimated 20-hour playtime. While puzzles are expected, it’s unclear how they will compare to previous entries in the series. With a confirmed 18+ rating, Way of the Sword will emphasize realistic and satisfying sword combat, featuring brutal, bloody fights while staying true to the series’ core identity.
Notably, Onimusha: Way of the Sword serves as a reboot, making it an accessible entry point for newcomers who may not be familiar with the original titles. Set for a 2026 release on PS5, PC and, Xbox Series X/S the game is poised to bring the franchise back with fresh appeal.
