Oblivion Remastered Reaches 4 Million Players in Just 5 Days

Surprise Launch Sparks Massive Player Growth

Oblivion Remastered Reaches 4 Million Players in Just 5 Days

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has officially proven that classics never die. Released unexpectedly on April 22, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the game has already amassed over 4 million players in just five days, according to Bethesda’s announcement.

Developed in collaboration between Bethesda Game Studios and Virtuos, this remaster revamps Oblivion’s visuals with Unreal Engine 5 while retaining the original Gamebryo engine’s gameplay systems. The result is a faithful yet visually stunning return to Cyrodiil.

All the original DLCs have been bundled into this version, and environmental sounds and voice lines have been carefully remastered. Although the switch to Unreal Engine 5 has made modding slightly more complex, the passionate Oblivion modding community is already adapting, promising a wave of new content.

Perhaps most remarkable is how Oblivion Remastered achieved this milestone without massive marketing campaigns. Nostalgia, word of mouth, and the game’s legendary reputation carried it to massive early success. It’s a testament to how powerful timeless gameplay, atmospheric world-building, and community love can still be in today’s fast-paced gaming market.

Bethesda’s bold strategy seems to have paid off, and if this momentum holds, Oblivion Remastered could become one of 2025’s biggest sleeper hits.
