Marathon Gameplay Reveal Set for April 12

Bungie’s Big Return to Competitive Multiplayer?

Bungie's New Multiplayer Shooter

Bungie’s long-anticipated extraction shooter Marathon is finally getting its first gameplay reveal this weekend. The date, confirmed through an engaging community ARG that had thousands of fans deciphering cryptic code fragments, sets the stage for the showcase on Saturday, April 12, starting at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET.

Originally announced in 2023, Marathon is a bold reimagining of the classic ‘90s sci-fi FPS series that helped put Bungie on the map. In this new iteration, players step into the shoes of cybernetic mercenaries known as Runners, scavenging for valuable artifacts and gear on the hostile, abandoned colony of Tau Ceti IV. The gameplay centers around team-based matches where squads must cooperate to extract loot—while thwarting rival teams trying to do the same.

So far, details about the core mechanics and overall structure have been scarce. However, expectations are high that this weekend’s reveal will offer a deeper dive into what Marathon truly has to offer in terms of gameplay, mechanics, and style.

While Marathon doesn’t have a release date yet, Bungie has confirmed it will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
