Baldur’s Gate 3’s Final Major Update Launches April 15

12 New Subclasses, Cross-Platform Play, and Photo Mode Incoming

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Final Major Update Launches April 15

Larian Studios has officially announced the final major update for one of 2023’s most acclaimed RPGs, Baldur’s Gate 3. Titled Patch 8, the update will go live on April 15, 2025, across all platforms: PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Mac.

This marks the end of the game’s post-launch development phase — but not the end of its legacy. With this update, Larian delivers one last content drop that feels more like a celebration than just a patch.

Key Features in Patch 8:

12 New Subclasses:

Each base class receives one new subclass. Highlights include College of Glamour for Bards, Path of the Giant for Barbarians, and Bladesinging for Wizards.

Cross-Platform Play:

Players across all supported platforms can now team up and explore the Forgotten Realms together — regardless of hardware.

Photo Mode:

Capture cinematic moments in-game using various filters, frames, angles, and stickers to personalize your adventures.

This update not only adds new features but also represents a graceful farewell from the development team. While Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t receive further content updates, mod support will continue, and Larian plans to release new tools to empower the modding community.

To celebrate this final update, Larian will host a special live stream on April 16 via their official Twitch and YouTube channels, offering deeper insight and developer commentary.

With Patch 8, Baldur’s Gate 3 closes the book on its development with style — a final gift to fans who’ve followed the journey from launch to legacy.
