Five of Eight Playable Heroes Revealed
A new trailer has been released for Duchess, one of the eight playable characters in Elden Ring: Nightreign, a PvE co-op spinoff of FromSoftware’s 2022 open-world hit. Unlike the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features no character customization—players choose from a set roster of eight distinct heroes, each with unique playstyles.
Set in Limveld, a procedurally generated version of Limgrave, the game blends PvE exploration with battle royale-style intensity. Players drop in, gather gear, level up, and prepare over three in-game days for a climactic boss battle on the third night.
So far, five of the eight characters have been revealed:
Wylder – The cover star and a balanced sword-and-shield fighter.
Guardian – A humanoid falcon wielding a two-handed axe and giant shield, likely a tankier archetype.
Recluse – The team’s mage, specializing in ranged magic.
Ironeye – The archer class, focused on precision and mobility.
Duchess – Newly revealed, she’s shown wielding a large sword, hinting at a potential heavy melee build.
Three characters remain unrevealed. Based on footage from the 2024 Game Awards trailer, one appears to be a second heavy-hitter using a massive hammer, and another looks like a fast, agile swordfighter. The eighth character remains a mystery.
Elden Ring: Nightreign promises a fresh, high-stakes take on the Lands Between, with structured gameplay and distinct characters replacing the open-ended builds of its predecessor.
