New Updates Game Sorting and Capture Moments

Sony has rolled out a new system update for PlayStation Portal, expanding the Cloud Streaming (Beta) experience for PS Plus Premium users. According to the Playstation Blog the update brings several key features:

  • Game Sorting – You can now organize the PS Plus catalog by name, release date, or newest additions.

  • Gameplay Capture – The Create button is now active during cloud sessions. Take screenshots, record clips (up to 3 minutes), and access them via the PlayStation App. Captures are saved for 14 days.

  • Queue System – When servers are full, players can now enter a queue and join when a slot opens.

  • Pause Functionality – Gameplay pauses when opening the quick menu or entering rest mode (note: not during online sessions).

  • Inactivity Notification – A warning pops up before your session closes after 10 minutes of idle time.

  • Feedback Screen – Rate your cloud experience post-session to help Sony refine the service.

These updates show Sony is still experimenting with the PS Portal and its cloud strategy—but here’s hoping they eventually take inspiration from Nintendo’s Switch and deliver the true local-play handheld many of us are waiting for.
