GameChat Brings Voice, Video, and Screen Sharing
Nintendo has officially revealed the function of the mysterious C Button on the right Joy-Con 2 controller: GameChat, a brand-new online communication feature for Nintendo Switch 2.
With GameChat, players can talk, share their game screen, and hang out with friends as if they were in the same room, no matter where they are. Whether celebrating a victory or just checking in, this feature makes online gaming more social than ever.
Key Features of GameChat:
Instant Voice Chat – Thanks to the built-in microphone on the Switch 2, players can communicate seamlessly in both handheld and docked mode without needing extra accessories.
Video Chat Support – Nintendo has confirmed that video chat will also be available, but it requires the separately sold Nintendo Camera accessory.
Screen Sharing – Players can share their gameplay in real time, making it easier to show off skills, strategize, or simply enjoy the experience together.
Easy Activation – Start a chat anytime by pressing the C Button on the right Joy-Con 2 controller.
GameChat finally eliminates the need for the Nintendo Switch Online app, bringing a modern party chat system similar to PS5 and Xbox Series X, while also reviving the video chat feature last seen on the Wii U. This long-awaited addition was a necessary step for Nintendo’s online ecosystem. However, using GameChat requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
