Highy anticipated dlc for Hogwarts Legacy has been canceled
Warner Bros. Cancels Hogwarts Legacy DLC Despite Massive Success
On April 27, Warner Bros. announced that the planned DLC for Avalanche Software’s Hogwarts Legacy has been canceled—despite the game selling over 34 million copies and becoming one of 2023’s most successful titles.
Hogwarts Legacy, an open-world action RPG based on J.K. Rowling’s critically acclaimed Harry Potter series, faced numerous controversies during its release. Yet, it shattered expectations, outselling even Call of Duty and becoming Warner Bros.’ highest-grossing game of the year.
The cancellation comes as a shock, especially since Warner Bros. recently stated it would double down on its flagship franchises, including DC Comics (primarily Batman), Mortal Kombat, Game of Thrones, and Harry Potter. Even more surprising? The axed DLC was reportedly set to launch alongside the Deluxe Edition next year.
At this time, Warner Bros. has not disclosed the exact reason for the cancellation.
