Erdrick’s Legacy Returns in HD-2D
Square Enix and developer Artdink Corporation have released the first teaser trailer and screenshots for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake.
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake brings full remakes of the original Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest II, allowing both new and returning players to experience these legendary RPGs on modern platforms.
The trailer showcases gameplay for the first time, with players taking control of the descendants of Erdrick, the legendary hero whose legacy spans generations in these classic adventures. Since last year’s Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake takes place chronologically before these two titles, players can now continue the epic story and complete the revered Erdrick Trilogy—or dive into these games as a standalone experience.
Developed by Square Enix’s Team Asano, the HD-2D graphic style blends pixel art characters with 3D backgrounds and adds high-definition visual effects to create a nostalgic yet fresh aesthetic. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is the sixth title produced using this beloved visual style.
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is set to launch in 2025 for Switch, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
